Wars Map

The New Zealand Wars were fought all over the North Island of New Zealand.

Some historians argue that the Wairau confrontation which occurred in the South Island in 1843 should also be included. This is because the encounter cost 28 lives, mostly settlers. However, neither the British Army nor the Armed Constabulary was involved (the Constabulary had not yet been formed). Click here to read more – # Wairau ‘Massacre’.
